Winter weather update

NewsThe long-awaited thaw has slowly but surely begun and even if the freezing temperatures continue, Richmond Council have re-iterated that several weeks worth of grit supplies are still available. Schools are also mostly open and back to normal now.

Post has been delayed in some areas but is also returning back to normal – most local post-box collections are now back on track. If you are awaiting any important post you might want to check Royal Mail’s status page for more up-do-date info.

Local refuse collection didn’t occur on some days last week due to hazardous conditions but extra collection teams are currently out and about catching up – everything overdue from last week should be collected by Tuesday 12th so let the council know if your overdue rubbish still hasn’t been collected after this date.

Also don’t forget all throughout January you can leave your real Christmas trees (minus stands and decorations!) out with your bins – these are kindly collected and turned into compost by Richmond Council which is a far more fitting and environmentally friendly resting place than being chopped up and mixed in with normal waste.
