Bomb alert at NPL

NewsPolice tonight cordoned off an area on the NPL grounds (near LGC/NPL Sports entrance) after a suspect package was found in the area.

It didn’t take long before a huge number of emergency vehicles descended on the junction – about half a dozen police cars, ambulances, an incident support unit and also a dog unit trained to search specifically for explosives. Park Road was closed for a short while to make room for all the vehicles needing room to park.

Those at the NPL Sports ground weren’t allowed to leave until the situation was resolved as the area surrounded their entrance. Soon after the explosives search dog had checked the area, the package was deemed to be safe and the vehicles started disappearing one by one.
