EventsThe popular Dead Parrot Society comedy night hosted by Viv Groskop is returning to the Royal Oak after the summer holiday break. First up is this Friday (6th) with a line-up of Nena Edwards, Lawrence Owen, Sara Pascoe, Henry Von Stifle and Bisha K. Ali – tickets for the evening are £10.

On Saturday the 7th Toni & Guy Teddington are helping celebrate 50 years of the company with a party day that anyone is welcome to attend – there will be music, champagne, cupcakes, raffle, face painting & Anthony Lamb classical musician. Not forgetting complimentary cut and colour consultations, introductory offers and demos of hair trends!

For theatre lovers, Teddington Theatre Club will be showing guests around their home, Hampton Hill Play House and in the evening the Italian comedy L’Elisir D’Amore will be performed by Villa InCanto at the historic Normansfield Theatre (tickets £20).

Sunday the 8th will see the return of the Teddington River Festival to the Thames – thousands are expected to pack out the riverside with arts & crafts, angling, boats on display, boat rides, canoe/skiff racing, charity & community stands, face painting, food & refreshments, fair ground rides, kids shows, live music, river rescue demonstrations, try-a-boat, water safety road shows, wildlife displays and loads more!

As well as the Lock Island and Towpath, there will be lots on offer on the Teddington side of the river at Lifeboat Station (near the Wharf Restaurant) and Manor Road Recreational Ground. Gloriana, the Royal Rowbarge will also be in attendance for those that missed it during the Diamond Jubilee pageant and Olympics.

The following weekend sees local markets on Saturday the 14th – mum2mum baby and children’s nearly new sale at Teddington Baptist Church and the Monthly Mini Market at Teddington Constitutional Club.

On Sunday the 15th, Calligaris are hosting a “Thank You Teddington” event to thank members of the community for the support in the fight against the Sainsbury’s application that would have seen this shop closed. Join others for a glass of prosecco and petit fours and buy a £5 raffle ticket to win an Electa Armchair worth £1,319 (profits go to legal funds). You can also enjoy 15% discount using this voucher until the end of October.

On 21st-22nd September Open House London’s open buildings in the area will include Bushy House, Twickenham Museum, Strawberry Hill House and Normansfield Theatre.

On Friday 27th September, NPL Sports Club will be having their new changing rooms officially opened by Vince Cable and the following day will be welcoming one and all to their Family Open Fun Day. From 12-5pm on Saturday the 28th the club will help carry on the Olympic legacy by encouraging sport participation from all ages with visitors able to try out tennis, football, cricket, bowls and hockey tasters.
