Overnight roadworks set to continue

PlanningThe noisy but necessary roadworks on the High Street will have a slight break until Sunday night when they will commence again, with road closures and diversions in place. Despite being delayed by equipment breakdowns early during the work, it is expected to finish on schedule on Tuesday night/Wednesday morning.

Broad Street and The Causeway will then have its surface removed and replaced between the 1st and 11th December, again from 8pm until 5am daily (except Fri/Sat) and with drilling kept to a minimum after 11pm. Nearby residents should have received a letter detailing the next phase of this work.

This work forms part of LBRUT’s borough-wide programme to improve roads and pavements and will include temporary parking restrictions with warnings to motorists that cars parked in the coned area overnight will be towed.

The next planning phase of Road and Pavements funds allocation for each of the borough’s 14 villages will take place soon and residents can help decide where the money will be spent – you have until December 13th to nominate which roads and areas you feel need the additional funding.

[Update 12/11/2013] LBRUT have stated that most of the work will finish on Tuesday night (12th) with a small amount of surrounding work completed on Wednesday night.
