Tick Tock, Tick Tock – Times Are Changing in Teddington

Clocks Changing The nights are definitely drawing in – and as from tomorrow it’ll be getting dark a whole hour earlier, as at 2am on Sunday, it’s time to put your clocks back to 1am.

You’ll know if you have a smartphone that this happens automatically – with most digital devices, gone are the days of finding every clock in your house or office and manually changing the time…

Although it can be quite confusing when one of your devices says one time and another says another – I’m sure there will be lots of restaurant bookings on Sunday where people turn up an hour early!

The reason this technology can work is due to an atomic clock that controls the time for the whole of the UK – all from one location in Teddington.

This year, NPL are celebrating 60 years since the invention – and they continue to research cutting-edge techniques to improve the nation’s, and the world’s time-keeping further still.
