In Balance Fitness offers personal training and circuit classes, specialising in training for those want to get fit but aren’t sure how to start or are intimidated by gyms, equipment and exercise gobblygook! A better value service is offered than the gym, with two free group sessions for all personal training clients. Pre and post classes are run to help mums and mums-to-be get and stay fit.
Monday-Friday 6am to 9pm
Saturday and Sunday early morning and lunchtime
“I worked for 15 years as a management consultant, and although was pretty good at it, I was generally stressed out, fed up, tired and miserable. A colleague had just run a half marathon, and was pretty evangelical about how great it made her feel, so I decided to give it a go (after a fair amount of procrastinating and false starts). From a base of no fitness and an inability to run I started to get better – both physically and mentally, and I completed my first marathon in 2000.
Soon the only thing that helped me get through the daily grind was exercise – running through the open spaces of South West London with my friends, my dog and occasionally my husband, Nick (if he could be dragged out of bed). Whenever I exercised I felt better, was less stressed and found it easier to cope with the unrealistic deadlines and demanding customers. I realised that if I could do it, so could anybody.
I passionately believe that everybody can and should have the chance to exercise themselves better. So, in 2010 I decided to put my money where my mouth is. I gave up the day job and I’ve never looked back. I specialise in personal training and programmes for beginners, pre and post natal fitness, stress management and weight loss. In 2012 I gave birth to a beautiful daughter, Emma, so I completely understand how to stay fit during pregnancy (through 9 months of relentless morning sickness). I also know how to try to get fit after pregnancy, when you’re completely exhausted and there seems no time to do it.
I’m not an elite athlete, still have wobbly bits, and enjoy a glass of wine and cake. I love running, triathlons, swimming, cycling and circuit training, but it’s not my life – I understand you need balance in your fitness life too.
I will push you, I will get results but it will always be fun and I promise you will feel better at the end of a session.”
