Rétro Bistrot introduces new menus for spring

Fine eatery Rétro Bistrot, owned and run by Vincent Gerbeau is welcoming Spring this year with new dishes such as steak tartare, potted crab, roast rump of lamb with petits pois à la française and lemon grass yogurt.

Head chef, David Philpott has created fresh menus to compliment the changing season with a daily changing plat du jour also available. Dishes include starters such as velouté d’ artichaut et foie gras poêlé (Jerusalem artichoke velouté, seared foie gras, truffle oil) and escargots à l’ail (snails in garlic butter).

Mains include pan-fried calves liver and bacon, pomme Lyonnais, and braised baby gem. Diners can also opt for roasted chateaubriand, pomme Pont Neuf, béarnaise sauce (for two). Desserts include apricot soufflé and chocolat moelleux. The set menu is particularly good value at £10.95 for two courses and £13.95 for three courses.

David’s team have gained enviable experience, having trained with some of the most famous faces in the industry (Gary Rhodes, John Burton Race and Marco Pierre White). Front of house, Vincent Gerbeau, previously at The Greenhouse and his team pride themselves on their very high standards of service, and believe it is this attention to the customer that defines Rétro.

Independent and family run, Rétro Bistrot has been open since 2008 and has successfully established itself as one of West London’s finest French restaurants, updating ‘cuisine bourgeoise’ for the 21st Century. Dishes are simple and classic, made using the finest ingredients.

Rétro turns into an art gallery every other month for a viewing of its changing art collection, supporting local artists. The restaurant also holds an exhibition privée where diners can meet the artist as well as regular Gourmet tasting evenings with a special menu degustation and accompanying wines. The next Gourmet evening and private exhibition will take place on the same evening, Wednesday 23rd March (usually separate events.)

Lunch is served Tuesday – Sunday, midday – 3.30pm; and dinner Tuesday – Saturday, 6.30 – 11pm. Bookings can be made through the website or by calling 0208 977 2239. For more information visit www.retrobistrot.co.uk or call 020 8977 2239.
