TRAIN DELAYS AFTER BARNES TRACK INCIDENT
A person has died after an incident on the tracks at Barnes railway station – shutting South Western Railway services for hours.
Emergency services were called to Barnes station in Richmond today (February 12) at 7am to reports of a casualty on the tracks.
Medics pronounced the person dead at the scene and the incident is not being treated as suspicious.
A file is being prepared for the coroner.
All lines were initially closed between Clapham Junction and Hounslow, as well as Richmond, due to the death.
Some lines then reopened just after 8am.
National Rail says to expect major disruption until 3pm as power to the running rails have been switched off.
Trains are also not servicing Barnes station.
All lines towards Clapham Junction are blocked, while train services towards Richmond and Twickenham from Waterloo are running.
A British Transport Police spokesperson said: “Officers were called to Barnes railway station at around 7am today (February 12) following reports of a casualty on the tracks.
“Paramedics also attended, however sadly a person was pronounced dead at the scene.
“The incident is not being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner.”
