OFFICIAL OPENING CEREMONY FOR THE TEDDINGTON STATION LIFTS ON MAY 23

The official and formal opening of the Teddington station lifts will take place on Friday May 23, Teddington Town exclusively learned today.
The two lifts were part of £3m ‘access for all’ project by Network Rail to assist passengers with prams or buggies, older travellers as well as those with mobility issues.
The lifts on Station Road and Victoria Road save a 20 minute walk between the two platforms.
A spokesperson said: “The new footbridge and lifts are part of the Department for Transport’s (DfT) ‘Access for All’ scheme, which is used to create an obstacle free, accessible route from the station entrance to the platforms.”
Local MP Munira Wilson, local dignatories, councillors and all those campaigners who fought for the installation of the lifts are likely to be invited.
Teddington Town has led the way in reporting progress as well as unexpected delays and hitches in the building and completion of the two lifts.
