TEDDINGTON SCHOOL’S PRIDE AT SCIENCE SUCCESS
Teddington School was celebrating today after unprecedented success in their Science Department.
In a statement to Teddington Town the school said: “The Science Department is proud to reflect on a period of significant achievement and success.
“Firstly, we are delighted that a record number of students are studying A-Level Sciences in our Sixth Form.
“Such reflects a growing passion for STEM subjects and future STEM careers among our students, but it is also testament to the experience and quality of our Science teachers.
“They deliver exceptional lessons, results and enrichment, including the visit to Geneva and CERN last July which was attended by more than 40 students and a residential A-Level Biology trip for over 30 Year 13 students.
“Over the past three years, students have received offers from Oxford and Cambridge to study Physics, Chemistry, Architecture and Veterinary Medicine.
“In addition, many of our students have secured places at leading Russell Group universities, including Imperial College London, Durham, Warwick, and Bristol, to study a wide range of STEM courses, such as Engineering, Biochemistry, Forensic Science and Environmental Science.
“We are also thrilled that three students this year have been offered places to study Medicine.
“We have also seen increased participation in the national Olympiad competitions in all three Sciences, with several of our students achieving very highly versus the national competition with results which might be more typical for independent and selective grammar schools.
“Particular mention must be made of Edward Paterson who achieved Top Gold awards in both the UK Chemistry and Physics Olympiads, plus a Gold in the Biology Olympiad, leading to him being invited to attend a residential training camp with the Royal Society of Chemistry at Nottingham University during the Easter break.
“In addition, Mr Evans was part of the adult team at Oxford University over Easter which selected and trained the UK Physics team, and we are delighted he has been selected to accompany the UK team at the International Physics Olympiad in Paris this July.”
