UKRAINIAN KIDS TUNE UP WITH DONATED INSTRUMENTS FROM TEDDINGTON

Mighty Convoy organiser Simon Brake (in grey sweater) hands out the musical instruments to the secondary school kids in Lviv

The latest humanitarian aid mission by Mighty Convoy from Teddington delivered a number of musical instruments to a secondary school in Lviv in Ukraine, which will transform their music teaching.

Electric keyboards, guitars, violins, two ukeles and a bongo drum, which had all been donated locally,  were amongst the instruments handed out to Secondary School 33 in Shevchenka Street and the kids wasted no time at all in giving the instruments a go.

Two drivers from a previous Mighty Convoy mission earlier in the year visited the school and were told of the need of musical instruments and they were added to the aid, which included medical supplies as well as the five pick up trucks, one 4×4 and a refrigerated van donated by Iceland, which are left in the country to be deployed by military leaders.

Simon told Teddington Town: “We had a fantastic response from people donating their unwanted musical instruments despite the lateness of our appeal. The kids and the teachers were overwhelmed when we handed them out.”
