UPDATE: PERSON DIES IN TRAIN INCIDENT

Update:

Officers were called to North Sheen railway station at around 12.30pm today (11 June) following reports of a casualty on the tracks.

Paramedics also attended, however sadly a person was pronounced dead at the scene.

The incident is not being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner.

 

 

 

Major disruption hit train services from Teddington today after reports of a person being struck by a train between Richmond and Mortlake.

Cancellations were expected up until 6pm.

The South Western Railway’s website said: “Due to emergency services dealing with an incident between Richmond and Mortlake all lines are blocked.

“Train services running through these stations may be cancelled, delayed or revised. Disruption is expected until 18:00 11/06

“We have received reports that a person has been struck by a train between Richmond and Mortlake.
”Our response teams are working with the emergency services to assist with the incident.
“In order to allow emergency services access to the the railway all power to the track will need to be switched off in the affected area.
“Until further notice the following alterations will be necessary:
– All services will be diverted between Barnes Bridge and Hounslow.
“For further information or onward travel advice please speak to a member of staff or use a station help point.
“We are very sorry for any delay that this may cause to your journey.”
