DIANA FOUNTAIN RESTORATION WORK DELAYED

The delayed restoration work to the Diana Fountain in Bushy Park should be completed later in the summer, the Royal Parks confirmed today.
The work on the plinth and the cleaning of the bronze statue had been due to finish in March but the statue remains wrapped up and surrounded by scaffolding, which has surprised many regular visitors.
Today Phil Edwards, Bushy Park Manager told Teddington Town: “We are anticipating that we will complete works to the Diana Fountain this summer.
“Unfortunately, we experienced difficulties with finding a suitable cleaning and wax restoration method for the bronzes, but this has now been resolved.”
A small group of workmen worked during the winter to begin the cleaning and restoration of the Diana Fountain back in October.
They built a narrow ‘bridge’ between the base of the statue in the middle of the lake to carry the cleaning materials to the flagstones, the actual bronze statue, the plinth and the fountain.
A small orange dinghy has also been deployed to move cleaning materials from the lakeside to the actual fountain.
In October The Royal Parks said: “The Diana Fountain is currently undergoing a routine maintenance clean – which is anticipated to last until early 2025. There will be no road closures, or any major loss of parking spaces within this area of the park during this work. We’re sorry for any inconvenience that this may cause.”
