SPECIAL DEER SANCTUARY SET UP IN BUSHY PARK

A special area in Bushy Park has been designated as a deer ‘sanctuary’ surrounded by a low wooden fence it was confirmed today.
An area known as the Warren Plantation is being developed as a ‘dedicated deer sanctuary’ – a peaceful refuge designed to enhance deer well-being and support the park’s biodiversity.
The Royal Parks said: “To improve the woodland structure we’ll be planting a variety of canopy trees, creating shade and shelter for the deer.
“This enhanced tree cover will also support birds, insects and small mammals, improve soil health and contribute to a richer, more diverse ecosystem.”
The area will not be accessible to the public and the deer will be introduced in the autumn although many deer appeared to have already discovered their new sanctuary today.
Dogs are not permitted in the area either.
