TEDDINGTON PUB INSTALLS LIFE-SAVING EQUIPMENT

Teddington’s popular pub The Builders Arms has demonstrated its support for the community with the installation of a defibrillator – which can save the lives of heart attack victims.
The pub, which reopened a year ago, held a special training session on Tuesday to show regulars and local residents how the equipment worked.
Pub manager, Barry Wilson told Teddington Town: “We had the defibrillator installed a couple of months ago onto the external wall (Bridgeman road side) because the nearest one is on church road (outside Vida therapy) and obviously time is of the essence when it comes to a heart attack.
“The chances of saving someone who has a heart issue by doing CPR (actually physically pushing down on their chest) is 7%. If you can get a defib on them within 10 minutes the chances of survival increase to 65-70%.
“It can save someone’s life so it was nice we had such a good turnout for the training evening.”
Another training session is planned for later in the year.
