TEDDINGTON’S CYCLING SOLICITOR WINS TOP AWARD AS ‘SUPERSTAR’ OF IMMIGRATION LAW

Teddington-based solicitor Philip Trott – a well-known and popular local figure, who cycles everywhere on his beloved Brompton bike – has been recognised with an Outstanding Contribution Award for his immigration work with High Net Worth individuals.
At a special ceremony at The Tower of London Simon Christian, Global Research Director of Chambers and Partners, said: “I am delighted to finish the night by presenting the Outstanding Contribution award.
“This year’s award goes to an outstanding figure in the world of High Net Worth immigration work. He spent many years as a partner at Bates Wells & Braithwaite, where he developed a reputation for representing rappers, rock musicians and other entertainment stars in complex visa applications.
“His first appearance in Chambers, as far as my library research could ascertain, was in the 1994-1995 edition. This was before we ranked firms and lawyers in bands, and our researchers back then were clearly of a more laconic mindset than nowadays, but tonight’s winner was included among several immigration lawyers who the mid-90s authors said “deserve special mention for the impressive reputations they have built up.”
“By the time of the 2018 High Net Worth guide, Chambers editorial had become a fair bit more loquacious. In that guide, we quoted a fellow lawyer as saying “I couldn’t imagine an immigration world without him. He’s like the oracle – the fountain of immigration knowledge.” We’ve also described him as a “superstar immigration lawyer”, “the godfather of immigration law” and “the go-to guy for anything horrendously complex”.
“He is now a senior counsel at Vanessa Ganguin Immigration Law. He remains a contributor to the Immigration Law Practitioners’ Association, ILPA, and represented the association on the UK Visas and Immigration employer taskforce. He’s also authored and contributed to several leading practitioner texts.
“In the 2025 High Net Worth guide, due out in a couple of weeks’ time, we quote an international interviewee saying he is “my first call for anything immigration-related in the UK.”
“I am delighted to announce that our final winner of the evening is Philip Trott.”
Philip, known affectionately as ‘Trotty‘ to his friends, said: “This award is a reflection of the amazing clients and colleagues that I have been fortunate enough to work with over the years and I am deeply grateful and appreciative of this recognition and support for this important field of work.”
