KICK UP A STINK CAMPAIGN LAUNCHED AT WHARF RESTAURANT

Campaigners against the Thames Water ‘Sewage Pump Scheme’ set up camp outside the Lensbury in Broom Road today to hand out protest postcards to visiting members at the entrance.

They were led by Barbara Spain, owner of the Wharf restaurant which will host an event on the evening of Tuesday July 29 and local campaigner and river expert Mike Pemberton.

The event aims to unite the community in standing up to Thames Water’s proposed sewage pump, called the Teddington Direct River Abstraction scheme and will include speeches explaining the impact of the scheme as well as campaign T-shirts and live music.

Organiser Barbara said: “Let’s protect our river and land together.”
