Sainsbury’s Local in Teddington’s High Street has finally started work on tidying up and painting its shabby shopfront following complaints from Teddington Society, it was learned today.

The Society first wrote to Sainsbury’s Head Office in November last year asking that the “exterior of the Sainsbury store in the High Street which is looking shabby, is redecorated.”

At the same time they raised an objection to the blacked out vinyl windows of Marks & Spencer facing the street gave it a ‘bleak frontage’ which the High Street store has now addressed and changed.

A spokesperson for the Teddington Society told Teddington Town: “”We’re really pleased to see that Sainsburys are painting the exterior of their store in Teddington.

“We wrote to their Head Office in late 2024 to request that they consider redecoration, due to the shabby state of the outside. We had no response, but maybe our letter helped!”
