THREE CAR WASH WORKERS DEPORTED AFTER POLICE RAID IN HAMPTON WICK
Three men have been deported following the raid by immigration officials and police officers on the car wash in Kingston Road in Hampton Wick in May, the Home Office has confirmed.
A Home Office spokesperson said: “Following the arrests, three individuals have been removed from the United Kingdom under immigration enforcement measures.”
Four Indian nationals described as ‘male overstayers’ were arrested by Immigration Enforcement officers during a major operation at the car wash in Hampton Wick.
The Home Office added: “748 illegal working civil penalty notices were also handed to businesses caught violating immigration rules in the first quarter (January to March) of the year, marking the highest level since 2016 and a 81% increase compared to the same time last year.”
It added: “Illegal working undermines honest employers and undercuts local wages – it is against the law to work in the UK when you have no right to be here. The government is clamping down on employers who do this up and down the country.
“Since coming into power, a year ago we have doubled enforcement action nationwide with visits and arrests, including to businesses like car washes, up by over 50%.”
