TEDDINGTON’S NEW ELLERAY CENTRE LOOKING FOR NEW CHAIR
Elleray Community Association, the charity which manages the new Elleray Centre in North Lane, Teddington is on the look out for a new Chair following the retirement of long-serving Joan Barnett BEM (British Empire Medal)
Joan will be retiring soon after the opening of the new centre in October. She was awarded the British Empire Medal in 2023 for ‘hands-on service to the local community’ Joan has been involved in charity work for over 30 years and a trustee for Elleray Hall for over 15 years.

A spokesperson told Teddington Town: “This will be an exciting time for our charity as our immediate mission will be to expand the range of services we offer to members of our social club and introduce new classes, courses and activities to appeal to a very broad cross section of the local community.
“So, although our focus will remain on enhancing the lives of older or vulnerable local residents, we are committed to ensuring that the new centre becomes a thriving community asset of value to all local residents.
“This will become the new home of our social club that provides activities, entertainment, outings and a healthy home-cooked lunch to help keep older members of our community, fit, healthy and entertained.”
They added: “Our new chair should have experience either as a trustee or in running committees or managing aspects of a service or business.
“As well as acting as spokesperson and figurehead for the charity, they will be instrumental in providing our committee of trustees with the strategic leadership necessary to ensure that we achieve our mission.
“The ability to engage with stakeholders and collaborate effectively with staff and volunteers as well as other charities, institutions and the local authority is vital.”
Please contact ECA on 020 8977 0549 or chr@ellerayhall.org to arrange an informal discussion with our current chair or to receive full details of the role and personal specification.
