TEDDINGTON COUPLE PREPARE FOR CHARITY ZIP WIRE CHALLENGE
Teddington couple Robert and Margaret Allen are bracing themselves for a zip wire challenge flying across the pitch at Twickenham Rugby stadium on Friday for the charity Crossroads Care Richmond and Kingston.
Rob, a big rugby fan, said: “Hurtling down 150metres is a scary prospect especially as Margaret is not great with heights but we decided to challenge ourselves in support of the incredible work that Crossroads does for hundreds of local unpaid carers.
“By providing personalised high-quality home and community respite care and support the charity gives carers a break from their often 24/7 caring roles – whether that’s looking after babies and children with profound disability or loved-ones living with dementia including young-onset dementia.”
The charity has become a cause close to Margaret’s heart since she started volunteering with them several months ago.
She said: “It must have been a slight moment of madness when we agreed to plummet across the Allianz Stadium on a zip wire but we’re both up for it and very much hoping you’ll cheer us on and donate to Crossroads which is doing such great work for carers in need of support.”
