LIB DEM LEADER AND KINGSTON MP CALLS FOR PRINCE ANDREW INQUIRY
The leader of the Lib-Dems and MP for Kingston Sir Ed Davey is calling for an inquiry into the use of Royal Lodge by Prince Andrew with a long-term ‘peppercorn’ rent arrangement.
In a letter to the PM and the Chair of the Public Accounts Committee, Sir Geoffrey Clifton-Brown MP he writes: “Proper transparency is urgently needed and Parliament has an important role to play in scrutinising the Crown Estate and ensuring the taxpayers’ interests are upheld.”
He adds: “I am therefore writing to ask if, as chair of the Public Accounts Committee, you will establish an inquiry into the use of Royal Lodge by Prince Andrew and summon him to take evidence? I am confident you would have cross-party support for such an inquiry.”
