ROYAL PARKS POLICE BID FAREWELL

The Royal Parks police was formally disbanded today leaving both Bushy Park and Richmond Park without dedicated police cover and causing fears of anti-social behaviour.
The entire police team will be redeployed in new roles across the Borough and any incidents in either park will be investigated by the Metropolitan police.
The disbanding of the team has been prompted by budgetary pressures on the Met despite the concerns of local residents and local Lib Dem MP’s including Munira Wilson and Richmond Council.
In a post on X (formerly Twitter) the Royal Parks police said their farewell.
It said: “And its goodnight from us.
Our last post on here as we hand over The Royal Parks to MPS colleagues.
“From summer crowds at the Palace to snow-fuelled winter evenings in Richmond Park, its been an absolute privilage for us to police these stunning parks.”
