TRAFFIC CHAOS IN TEDDINGTON AGAIN!

Teddington High Street was hit by traffic chaos as workmen RETURNED to dig a massive hole in the recently-laid tarmac in the same place as two weeks ago.

According to workmen on site the problem is an ‘urgent gas leak’ which requires an old pipe to be capped.

A hole about 3 metres long and 2 metres deep has exposed the pipework but work is expected to be completed on Friday or Saturday.

One unconfirmed report said the previous work was started but stopped without being completed because of the Teddington Lights Up event on Thursday, November 27.

The junction between High Street and Station Road was closed completely while temporary traffic lights outside of the Post Office caused big tailbacks in both directions

A spokesperson said:” Southern Gas Networks are currently attending an emergency leak in the carriageway on High Street, Teddington, at the junction with Station Road.

“Station Road is closed and traffic on the adjacent high street is being managed by temporary multiway traffic signals which are being manually controlled to optimise traffic flow.

“The work is expected to be completed by Friday. Contact: SGN, 0800 912 1700.”
