MAN HIT BY TRAIN AT KINGSTON STATION

Emergency vehicles surround Kingston station earlier today

Local trains were significantly disrupted earlier today after a man was hit by a train at Kingston railway station. He is fighting for his life in hospital.

A London Ambulance Service spokesperson said: “We were called at 8.15am today (16 December) to reports of a person hit by a train at Kingston Station, KT1.

“We sent resources to the scene including an ambulance crew, paramedics in fast response cars, an incident response officer and paramedics from our hazardous area response team (HART).

“We also dispatched a trauma team in a car from London’s Air Ambulance.

“We treated a man and took him to a major trauma centre as a priority.”

Kingston station was closed as emergency vehicles including police, fire and ambulance surrounded the area.

A spokesperson for the British Transport Police said: “Officers were called at around 8.15am this morning to reports of a casualty on the tracks at Kingston railway station.

“Officers responded with paramedics and a person was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries.

“The incident is not being treated as suspicious.”
