TEENAGER JAILED AFTER RUSH HOUR STABBING AT BARNES STATION

A teenager who repeatedly stabbed a man in broad daylight at Barnes station has been jailed, following a British Transport Police (BTP) investigation.
The teenager, who cannot be named for legal reasons, pleaded guilty to GBH (Grievous Bodily Harm) and was sentenced at Inner London Crown Court to five years imprisonment, with an additional three years and four months on licence.
The court heard how on 26 September 2024 at around 7am, the victim and the teenager were having a conversation just outside the entrance to platform one at Barnes railway station.
The pair could be seen on CCTV footage walking together into a wooded area outside the station. Shortly afterwards, the victim ran out towards the station shouting that he had been stabbed.
The teenager followed him before pushing him to the ground, stabbing him again several times.
The teenager then went to collect his bike from the station platform before fleeing the scene.
Officers and paramedics arrived soon afterwards, and the victim was rushed to hospital for lifesaving surgery, having suffered four stab wounds and multiple internal injuries.
Detectives carried out urgent enquiries to identify the perpetrator, gathering and viewing CCTV footage that showed the teenager returning home after the incident.
A pair of headphones were also found at the scene with DNA that was a match to the teenager.
Having identified him through these enquiries, detectives arrested the teenager at his home address.
Detective Sergeant Marc Farmer said: “This teenager acted with horrific levels of violence in a sustained and frenzied attack, which he launched in broad daylight in front of horrified morning commuters.
“It is only by sheer luck that we weren’t dealing with a murder investigation, so I’m very satisfied to see him now put behind bars for an extended period of time thanks to our investigation.
“There is absolutely no place for violence on the railway network, especially not the sort of mindless violence this teenager carried out. If you ever need us or see something that concerns you, you can text us discreetly on 61016.”
