TEDDINGTON’S MIGHTY CONVOY HUMANITARIAN PROJECT FOR UKRAINE RECEIVES RECOGNITION

The Teddington-based Mighty Convoy humanitarian mission, which has made EIGHTEEN trips to deliver medical, vital supplies and vehicles including ambulances to Ukraine, has received significant recognition in The Sunday Times Honours List of 2025.
The newspaper said their selections were based upon: Some risked their lives to save others, some changed Britain for the better, others simply made us laugh during testing times. All deserve recognition
The citation for Mighty Convoy which was set up by Simon Brake from his home in Teddington reads:
“In February 2022, Simon Brake watched in horror as Russia invaded Ukraine.
“But instead of sitting back and despairing at the state of the world, Brake, 61, decided to act and set up Mighty Convoy, a non-profit company that transports ambulances, vans and pick-ups packed with medical supplies from London to western Ukraine. He has made 14 trips and delivered 61 vehicles for use on the front line. To get home, Brake and his team of volunteers take taxis across the border into Poland, where they fly to London.
“Part of the reason I do this is because I realise how damn lucky my life is,” said Brake, a retired software entrepreneur from Richmond, southwest London.”
Others recognised included former rugby league player, now a coach for England rugby union Kevin Sinfield, who has continued to raise millions for Motor Neurone Disease (MND) after his great friend Rob Burrow passed away, aged 41 last June and the parents of the three little girls who were killed in the Southport atrocity while attending a Taylor Swift dance class.
Mighty Convoy’s first mission of 2026 will set off on January 11. If you want to know more about their fundraisi9ng efforts or get involved go to www.mightyconvoy.org
