RICHMOND STARS IN NEW BBC SERIES OF THE NIGHT MANAGER

Viewers of last night’s first episode of the second series of the BBC’s spy thriller The Night Manager will have caught a fleeting role for Richmond in the first episode.
The scenes were shot back in 2024 and featured Tom Hiddleston, who now plays Alex Goodwin in stead of Jonathan Pine in series two with filming watched by executive producer Hugh Laurie who starred as Richard Roper in the first series.
In his new guise Alex is part of a Night Owl surveillance team who follow and photograph suspected villains in a clandestine meeting on the towpath near Richmond Bridge.
The presence of Hugh Laurie, who played the arch-villain arms dealer Roper at the Richmond filming gave fans hopes that he may reappear in Series Two.
But early signs are that he may only appear in flashback scenes,
Richmond and the broader areas of south west London have been increasingly popular with TV series like Ted Lasso from Apple TV + and Kate Winslet’s latest film Goodbye June which was partly filmed at St Mary’s University, Twickenham, Black Doves starring Kiera Knightley and Rogue Heroes about the SAS.
Between 2018 and 2020 there were 830 days of filming across the Borough.
