NEW-BORN GOSLINGS FACE FIGHT FOR SURVIVAL

A pair of Egyptian geese keep a close parental eye on their TEN new-born goslings in Bushy Park’s Woodland Gardens.
The fluffy chicks will be fortunate to survive because of predators such as herons and foxes despite the guarding and feeding efforts of the parent birds.
Only 20% survive to adulthood. Typically between 5-11 eggs hatch and the chicks are led to water almost immediately. Breeding usually occurs between February and June.
