A church service took place today to celebrate the life of the owner of Sandy’s Fishmonger’s, Stuart Sandys who sadly passed in December.
Local MP Munira Wilson posted this tribute on social media.
“I was honoured to attend the wonderful celebration of Stuart Sandys’ life at a packed St Mary’s Church today.
“A wonderful celebration of Stuart’s life at a packed St Mary’s Church today.
“A privilege to hear from those who loved him what a great boss, mentor, businessman and family man he was.
“Stuart was a special man who brought much joy to our community and will be missed by all❤️”
The family has since decided not to reopen the shop in Twickenham. A funeral took place in late December.
In a previous statement, the family said:
“Dear loyal customers and friends
This is a very difficult post to write as we know that everyone has been coming to terms with the sudden loss of Stuart, Jill’s son and Helen’s brother. Over the last weeks we have been working on finding solutions to save the company.
”Unfortunately, we have reached the inevitable conclusion that, without Stuart, the business cannot and should not continue. It is with heavy hearts that we have reached this outcome and are announcing that Sandys will not be reopening.
“We would like to thank you all for your support and messages of kindness over the last month. They have brought so much comfort to the family. Thank you also for your continued loyal custom over the years.
“There will be a memorial service to celebrate Stuart’s life at St Mary’s Church on Monday 26th January at midday and afterwards at the Stoop. Everyone is welcome to join us.
”With many thanks again
Jill Sandys & Helen Kennedy”
