MASKED MEN ROB JEWELLERS IN TED LASSO STREET IN RICHMOND

Two masked and hooded men robbed a jeweller’s in broad daylight in Paved Court in Richmond earlier today (sat)
Clear video footage circulating on social media shows the robbery occurred at about 10.30am when one of the men smashed the shop’s windows with a sledge hammer.

Scores of shocked shoppers witnessed the robbery as jewellery was stolen and placed in a bright blue plastic bag before the duo dashed off.
The man wielding the sledgehammer and smashing the windows had a rucksack on his back while his accomplice had a blue plastic bag.
Staff inside the shop, Gregory & Co, could be seen desperately trying to remove items from the window display as the robbers grabbed jewellery and ran off towards Richmond Green.
The street has become famous as the fictional home of Ted Lasso and the official Ted Lasso merchandise store and is just yards from his fictional home.

Thousands of tourists visit the area to see the Prince’s Head pub and the bright red phone boxes which feature in the Apple TV show as The Crown & Anchor.
Although staff inside the shop tried to stop the robbery, they were unable to prevent the suspects from taking jewellery and fleeing as shocked bystanders looked on.
Later on Saturday, the shop was seen with its broken windows boarded up.
The retailer’s website says: “We are your local, independent, family jewellers.
“Our workshop and boutique are nestled in the heart of the bustling town of Richmond upon Thames.
“Our picturesque little lane, Paved Court, can be found just off Richmond Green next to the iconic red telephone boxes…it may look familiar as it’s a very popular film location.
“We have been successfully trading in Richmond for over 45 years, designing, making, sourcing and selling fine jewellery.
“We love what we do and are proud to have three generations of professional jewellers working within our business.
“We produce quality, ethically sourced….beautiful jewellery in a relaxed, informal environment.”
London’s Reform Party candidate, Laila Cunningham said: “Another armed robbery, in broad daylight in London, The tragedy isn’t just the crime, it’s how unsurprising it’s become. How used to it we are. How little faith remains in the state to keep us safe because the state literally gave up on protecting us. I won’t. I will never accept this as anywhere near normal.”
Teddington Town has requested a statement from the Met Police.
