TEDDINGTON POLICE ISSUE SCAM ALERT

Teddington police are advising residents to remain vigilant following reports of two individuals posing as builders and approaching homes in the area.
“These individuals are knocking on doors and falsely claiming that properties require urgent work,” said Sergeant Philip Ross Martyn for Teddington and Hampton Wick.
Their advice states:
Please follow the guidance below:
- Do not allow anyone into your home unless you are certain of their identity and purpose.
- Always request and thoroughly check identification, including verifying the company they claim to represent.
- No legitimate contractor will request payment at your doorstep.
- Before agreeing to any work, ensure you have confirmed the details with your housing management or an authorised representative.
- Report any suspicious behaviour immediately through:
999 – for emergencies or if you feel threatened
101– for non-emergency incidents

The police added: “Please stay alert and support one another, together lets keep our homes safe.”
