A PAINTING AND A PINT AT TEDDINGTON’S LION PUB

The Lion pub in Teddington became a temporary art gallery this week as it showcased an exhibition by local artist Agnieszka Lokaj called Breaking The Line to mark the beginning of the Women’s Six Nations between England and Ireland at Allianz Stadium on Saturday and celebrating the strength, physicality and and athleticism of women.

The opening night was attended by the President of the RFU Deborah Griffin OBE, a pioneer of women’s rugby and former England player Charlie Bronks.

The exhibition offers a special focus on local, community connections to women’s rugby, alongside new portraits of elite players that capture the intensity and skill of the game. The exhibition runs until May 21.

Agnieszka is a Twickenham-based artist who works in a semi-abstract portraiture. Her paintings explore strength, resilience and identity with a particular angle on women’s rugby, capturing moments and intensity and movement.
