TWICKENHAM’S EXCHANGE LINKS UP WITH NATIONAL THEATRE LIVE PERFORMANCES

The Exchange in Twickenham links up with The National Theatre Live

The Exchange venue opposite Twickenham railway station announced today that it will be the latest National Theatre Live venue, in a partnership which will bring the best of London and West End theatre to the area giving local theatre-lovers access top class entertainment.

The highly popular National Theatre Live (NT Live) brings filmed theatre to local cinemas, giving access to sold-out productions at much cheaper prices.

The best of British theatre is filmed live in an auditorium for cinema screens, giving audiences the experience of being at the theatre and having the best seat in the house.

The NT Live season at The Exchange kicks off with Present Laughter (19 September), the multi award-winning  production of Noël Coward’s provocative comedy, featuring Andrew Scott (Vanya, Fleabag), captured live from The Old Vic.

This will be followed by Prima Facie (24 October) with Jodie Cromer’s (Killing Eve) Olivier and Tony award-winning performance in Suzie Miller’s gripping one-woman play about a brilliant barrister.

Becky Shaw, The Exchange’s Programming and Partnerships Manager, commented: “These aren’t normal screenings, it’s like going to the theatre but at the cinema. Our audiences will be able to enjoy a fantastic evening – starting early, at 7pm – with performances by world-class actors, but from the comfort of The Exchange.

“Come along and enjoy a drink at the bar, refreshments during the interval and the best of British theatre, without the hassle of a trip into London!”

Screenings will run monthly, to coincide with the official NT Live release date, which will be announced on www.exchangetwickenham.co.uk The Exchange is offering a special introductory opening ticket price of £10 for all seats for the first show.

Following screenings, tickets will be £18 (General) / £15 (Concessions).

NT Live is the world-leading distributor of broadcast and filmed-live theatre. Since the first broadcast in 2009, more than 95 plays have been distributed to 4000 cinema screens in 74 countries.

Productions havebeen seen by a global audience of over 11 million people.

The Exchange is a multi-arts venue owned by Richmond Council and leased to St Mary’s University for a mixture of university use, community groups and public events. Based in the heart of Twickenham, it comprises of a 285-seat theatre space, five multi-purpose studio rooms and a large conservatory. The venue offers a year-round programme of events of film, live music, theatre, spoken word, comedy and educational classes, providing a welcoming cultural space for people of all ages in the London borough of Richmond-upon-Thames and beyond.
