CHRISTMAS TOPPERS FOR TEDDINGTON POST BOXES

This post box decoration can be seen on Kingston Road by the cafe

Teddington’s post boxes have got their seasonal ‘hats’ on thanks to local resident Denise Llloyd.

She posted her latest crochet crafted creations on social media with the description: “Something positive and fun in Teddington, hope they make you smile.”

Reactions included: “Thank you for all your hard work – THEY ARE APPRECIATED, Wonderful.”

And: “I actually love these, they make me smile, so creative.”

They can be seen near the Co-Op supermarket on the Kingston Road, another is on the corner of Kingston Lane opposite Atbara Road and the third on Broom Road, near Teddington school opposite Holmsdale Road.

Denise, who has been a Teddington resident for over 40 years, says she is motivated simply by bringing a smile to people’s faces.

She added:”I’ve always loved the post box toppers and as a crocheter myself, and with some encouragement from some friends, I thought this would be a lovely community initiative to be a part of.

“I prefer the anonymity of it, it’s a wonderful thing being able to see young children, families and neighbours appreciating them as they walk by. I saw a poor grandad with his granddaughter the other day walking round and round the post box playing with the bells, he has me to thank for a headache!”

Denise is also the cunning crafter behind the Halloween and the Easter ‘toppers’ which can be seen around Teddington.
