I’VE JOINED THE BUSHY PARK KINGFISHER CLUB WITH MY FIRST EVER PHOTO (?) OF THE ELUSIVE BIRD

If you look hard enough you will see the tiny patch of blue which is my feeble image of a kingfisher on a twig on the left at the top of the photo in the Woodland Gardens today

I joined the exclusive Kingfisher club of Bushy Park today when I captured my first ever  photograph (barely visible and taken on my iphone) of one of the stunning birds in the Woodland Gardens.

Bird spotters have been flocking to the area following publication on social media of beautiful images of the brightly-coloured but rarely seen bird.

Keen photographers with long lenses have spent hours camped out at the waterside in the hope of a fleeting glimpse.

My big opportunity came today at just after 10am when a kingfisher flew swiftly and low across the water and perched on a twig offering it a perfect position to spot any fish.

A magnificent image taken by a keen photographer showing the true colours of the kingfisher, thought to be one of a pair in the same area
