A roasted chestnuts stall, mulled wine, a Christmas tree and tinsel-clad chariots all made an early appearance today for a major Ted Lasso filming session on Richmond Green.

Leaf blowers were deployed to clear the area for filming on The Green near the Prince’s Head pub which had been turned into the Crown & Anchor as it appears in the award winning Apple TV+ series.

And Ted Lasso, now the coach of AFC Richmond’s Women’s team, was on a park bench on Richmond Green delivering his instructions to the production crew and his players as they partied on New Year’s Eve while his sidekick, Coach Beard, played by co-writer Brendan Hunt watched.

One of the team also leapt on to the bench and counted down from 54321 to wish everyone Happy New Year just across the road from the Crown & Anchor pub.

Filming also appeared to taking place in private houses around the Green as well as near Richmond Theatre, which has featured in previous episodes as the venue for an AFC Richmond gala night.

Hundreds of crew shifted camera equipment, powerful lights and floodlights and erected makeshift gazebos around the Green for the major production, reported to be a New Year’s Eve party as filming of Series Four comes to an end.

The roads around the Green were closed and security staff in bright green high viz jackets kept the growing members of curious spectators out of the filming vision.

Supporting artist or ‘extras’ were briefly accommodated in The Cricketers pub which was closed to the public and had a sign saying ‘crowd holding’ outside and the Prince’s Head next door was also closed to allow more filming.

The series is not expected to air until next June.
