PARK LANE STABLES FOUNDER IS ON SUNDAY TIMES SHORTLIST

The founder of Park Lane Stables Natalie O’Rourke MBE has been nominated for the prestigious Sunday Times Grassroots Sportswoman of the Year, Teddington Town can exclusively reveal.
Her nomination states: “Now in their 38th year, the awards have led the way in recognising and celebrating the outstanding contribution made to sport by women at all levels, from elite to grassroots.
“The Grassroots Sportswoman of the Year category specifically celebrates the women breaking down barriers and bringing together their communities to find the joy in playing sport and getting active.
“After a very thorough shortlisting process you have been selected for your hard work and efforts championing Park Lane Stables and for all of the extraordinary work that you do.”
Natalie made headlines around the world after leading a campaign to raise over £1m to save the well-known Teddington stables when they were threatened with closure.
The three other contenders are: Eartha Bond who is a former professional footballer who has become an award-winning sports teacher and set up a scheme called Girls Aloud which creates a safe space for girls to be involved and empowered through a range of sports, Jacqui Burke, the Chairwoman of Hillingdon Triathletes and Rosie Tubb, the Chairwoman of Horley Cricket Club.
The winner will be decided by a public vote which is open until December 21.
