YOUNG TEDDINGTON ARTIST IS THROUGH TO SEMI-FINAL OF LANDSCAPE ARTIST OF THE YEAR

Teddington artist Dan West is celebrating this week after reaching the semi-final of the Sky Arts Landscape Artist of the Year 2026.
His remarkable pencil drawing of Skiddaw Mountain near Keswick in the Lake District prompted the show’s judges to describe Dan as a ‘brilliant young artist’ as he won Heat Four against seven other artists and was congratulated and hugged by his proud mother.
One judge said: “It’s magical.”
As a heat winner, he is now in contention for the series final at the Falkirk Wheel.
The grand prize is a £10,000 commission for the National Gallery of Ireland to paint Croagh Patrick in County Mayo.
Dan, 24, who attended Collis School and Teddington School and now works in marketing, said: “I’m lost for words, It’s such a lot to take in” as the show presenter Stephen Mangan announced him as the winner and his parents rushed forward to hug and congratulate him.
“It’s definitely a confidence-booster getting your work validated by people who work in the industry.”
