The Friends of Bushy and Home Parks share its story so you can enjoy the park with fresh eyes.
The history of Bushy Park spans many centuries, and because, for the most part, it has been protected by its royal status, it has remained largely untouched, with its history visible to us.
There are aspects of medieval farming, including Tudor hunting and camps from both World Wars.
But the 1,000 acres of parkland have unique flora and fauna due to this historical use, which has introduced additional elements.
It is a Special Site of Scientific Interest (SSSI) with significant populations of rare insects, large numbers of ancient trees growing, and extensive areas of rare acid grassland.
