BUSHY PARK’S CHESTNUT SUNDAY TO BE HELD EVERY OTHER YEAR

Bushy Park’s traditional family celebrations on Chestnut Sunday in May will now take place every other year, it has been announced by Royal Parks.
The next formal event will take place in May 2027.
A spokesman for The Friends of Bushy and Home Parks said: “The Royal Parks have told us that they will run Chestnut Sunday on a biannual basis.
“That is because it requires substantial organisation and cost and we all want to retain it as a ‘free to enter’ event and to reflect the heritage of the park.”
The next event will be 2027.
”Visitors can still come along on the second Sunday on May 10 this year and in subsequent alternate years with their picnics and groups of families and friends, to continue the historic day out in the countryside which Victorian city dwellers created.”
Chestnut Sunday will continue to be organised by The Royal Parks charity with the support of The Friends of Bushy Park and Home Parks.
