Teddington Lock towpath at risk of flooding during Tuesday afternoon high tide
The Environment Agency says high tides could cause flooding on the towpath below Teddington Lock between 3pm and 7pm today, Tuesday 29 September.
Its flood alert, updated at 8.15am, forecasts a high tide at Richmond at around 5pm. Other low-lying stretches of the Thames between Teddington and Putney may also be affected. The agency says flooding of properties is not expected. (check-for-flooding.service.gov.uk)
People using the riverside path should take care and avoid walking or cycling through floodwater. The alert is a forecast: there has been no confirmation in the agency’s update that the Teddington towpath has flooded or been closed.
The Environment Agency says it will update the alert by 8pm, or sooner if conditions change.
