TEDDINGTON’S NEW BUTCHERS IS OPEN FOR XMAS ORDERS

Work is progressing well at Frederick’s of Teddington, the new independent butcher’s shop currently taking shape in the heart of the community.
With the main fabric of the building now ready, local residents will begin to see the shop’s transformation unfold over the coming weeks.
The finished butcher’s will feature a traditional counter showcasing carefully selected meat from British farms, including native breed beef, pork and lamb.
The Frederick’s team has already visited farmers and producers to select its breeds and suppliers, forming some fantastic relationships along the way including free-range, forest reared John Howe turkeys and geese.
A full-height dry-ageing fridge is due to arrive later in the year, while the shop’s basement is being developed into a dedicated preparation room.
The team had originally hoped to open before Christmas 2026. The last local independent butchers in Teddington was The Teddington Butcher in Waldegrave Road which closed three years ago.
Although the shop itself is expected to be largely complete by then, fitting out the preparation facilities and creating the full butcher’s counter to the required standard has proved too much to rush.

Frederick’s is planning to open fully very early in 2027.
“We’re incredibly excited by the progress being made,” said owner Benedict Phillips. “There is a great deal happening behind the scenes, from visiting farms and choosing native breeds to developing our preparation room and planning the new dry-ageing display.
“We would have loved to open fully before Christmas, but it is important to us that Frederick’s is properly ready from day one. We want to create a butcher’s shop that Teddington can be genuinely proud of, so we have decided to give the final stages the time and care they deserve.”
Although the full shop will not open before Christmas, orders for Frederick’s Christmas 2026 turkeys and geese are already open and selling fast.
The festive selection includes exceptional free-range, forest-reared turkeys from renowned producer John Howe, together with geese. Numbers are limited, and customers are
encouraged to place their orders as soon as possible to avoid disappointment.
More products will be added to the Christmas range available online, including special Boxing Day breakfast boxes.
Designed to feed the family without the hassle on Boxing Day morning, the boxes will contain everything expected from a fabulous full English breakfast, including a selection of wonderful sausages, house-cured bacon, Toast Rack Bake House sourdough, Cacklebean eggs and much much more.
Christmas orders will be available for collection from Frederick’s of Teddington on:
• Tuesday 22 December
• Wednesday 23 December
• Thursday 24 December
Alternative collection arrangements may also be available by appointment.

One feature is already proving a hit outside the shop: Freddie’s Farmyard, an interactive game that invites passers-by to press its buttons and identify a chorus of farmyard animals.
Designed with children in mind—but enthusiastically enjoyed by plenty of adults too—the game has quickly become a popular stopping point for local families.
“The children seem to love guessing the animals, and we love seeing people enjoying it,” added Benedict Phillips. “Our builders may feel slightly differently after listening to quacks
and oinks throughout the working day, but Freddie’s Farmyard is here to stay.”
In a further piece of local food news, Parsnips Deli will resume offering its freshly roasted whole chickens to take home from Saturday 17 October 2026.
The chickens will be served with La Ratte potatoes and garlic aioli freshly made at Café Benedict. Full details, including availability and ordering information, will be announced on
Parsnips Deli’s Instagram account.
“We can’t wait to welcome everyone inside. There are some really unique aspects to Frederick’s which we are excited to share with you as we close in on opening, and the
transformation will become much more visible over the next few weeks. Watch this space.”
