MICHAEL PALIN FORCED TO PULL OUT OF THEATRE APPEARANCE
Monty Python legend, author and TV presenter Sir Michael Palin has been forced to pull out of his appearance at Richmond Theatre, it was announced today.
Palin, who was due to appear on Monday night, has cancelled his upcoming book tour in the UK after he suffered broken ribs and a minor pelvic fracture after a heavy fall in his bathroom.
The star, 83, took to social media to share the devastating news that will prevent him from appearing at any events for his new book, “Michael Palin in the Philippines,”for “the next few months.”
“My accident was quite unsensational, a slip in the family bathroom where I’ve walked for 58 years,” he wrote.
“I fell heavily on my left side resulting in three fractured ribs and a minor pelvic fracture.
“The recovery of bone fractures takes a long time, especially when you’re 83.”
Making light of the incident with a nod to a famous Monty Python sketch featuring John Cleese, he added: “It was a comedy fall with no audience there to see it. I shall stick to fish slapping dances from now on.”
Sir Michael signed off: “Sincere apologies to everyone who has already put in a lot of work on the tour. I’d also like to say a huge thanks to the NHS for their incredible care.”
Ticket holders for the sell-out night have been contacted and advised to hold on to their tickets for a rearranged date. In
