TEDDINGTON CANCER-SUFFERER RAISES NEARLY £2000 ON LOCAL BREWERY ‘CRAWL’

Cancer sufferer Pete Bell completed his fundraising ‘pub crawl’ visiting five local breweries and raising nearly £2000 for related charities.
The walk covered about 12 miles and five pints and included visits to Twickenham Brewery, Thames Ditton Brewers and Jawbone Brewery, who all offered their support and contributed to the fundraising.
After being diagnosed and treated for bowel cancer this summer, Pete organised the challenge with Pete to raise money for the organisations which treated him and are dedicated to improving the lives of cancer sufferers.

Delighted Peter said: “We had dog walkers in Bushy Park who wanted to spontaneously donate, a very kind driver queuing at roadworks in Kingston who passed a fiver out of their window, and so many people we passed along the 12 miles wishing us well for a good cause.”
The walk itself has raised £1820, combined with the existing fundraising for a current total of just over £6,500.
Pete, aged 44, who lives in Sandy Lane, Teddington, added: “I was diagnosed with bowel cancer in spring 2026. When I thought I might win my fight against cancer and you see the staff who have such tough jobs working so hard and very sick people around me with long and horrible fights with cancer – my mind turned to how I could help when I was well enough.
“So I started my ‘main’ fundraising page and planned a couple of other ways to raise, the first of which was ther walk.
“We’re walking a 12 mile route and being lads who all love local craft beer, we wanted to celebrate how lucky we are to have great local breweries, some of whom are struggling to survive at the moment.
“We started at Twickenham Brewery, to Thames Ditton Brewers, then Big Smoke Brewery, then Park Brewery, and the finish line is at Jawbone Brewery in Strawberry Vale Twickenham.
“We’ve got 2 guys who have previously walked to Everest base camp (so I think they’ll survive this one) and my best man is flying down from Edinburgh, landing Heathrow at 7:35 on the morning of the walk, to be at the start line for 10am.
“During the tough times – particularly chemotherapy, it’s a massive motivation to know your friends and family are willing you on – in this case giving their money to help me, people like me and the many hard-working professionals giving their all every day of the year to treat cancer.
“When I felt like I wanted to give up or not take the tablets which make you feel ill, or not have an infusion which makes your veins burn for a fortnight – knowing that there’s a community of people behind you who’ve committed their money to support what you’re doing, really powered me through to get on with it.”
The money raised will be split Kingston Hospital, where Pete’s tumopur was removed and The Royal Marsden, where he underwent his chemotherpay, Bowel Cancer UK and Cancer Research.
Pete was joined by Alex Robertson, Lorenz Williams, Neil Lodge, Stuart McGregor, James Nathan, Ollie Lansbury, Clive Norton, Rich Buckingham, Peter Langworthy, Dylan Baxendale, Tep Crowder and Jon Hill.
