DESCRIPTION:The Landmark Arts Centre\, Ferry Road\, Teddington\, TW11 9NN\n
 \n&nbsp\;\n\nOpen to all adults - previous experience not required.\n\n&nb
 sp\;\n\nThis 10-week course is an opportunity to delve deep into tradition
 al icon painting and undertake a journey through its many varied and fasci
 nating medieval processes.\n\n&nbsp\;\n\nParticipants will be able to crea
 te their own version of a beautiful late Byzantine icon of the 'Virgin and
  Child' to approximately A4 size\, on a professional-quality linden-wood b
 oard\, using genuine gold leaf and painting in egg tempera. Specialist equ
 ipment\, detailed instructions and individual guidance will be provided fr
 om start to finish.\n\n&nbsp\;\n\nAn important part of the course will be 
 an art historical component\, which will consider many aspects of the icon
 \, from its iconography\, function and meaning\, as well as contemporary c
