We’re a ridiculously friendly local comedy club showcasing the best of hand-picked new talent from the circuit as well as welcoming famous faces from the telly who drop in regularly to try new stuff.
We’re on once a month (more or less) and always have at least half a dozen acts on the bill. Previous acts: Milton Jones, Lucy Porter, Hal Cruttenden, Josh Widdicombe, Sara Pascoe, John Robins, Luisa Omielan, Danielle Ward, Rachel Parris, Tom Webb, Sy Thomas, Stephen Bailey plus our favourite new acts Mr Susie, David Mills, Laurence Owen, Lindsay Sharman, Tom Ward, Ian Lane.

We love a bit of musical comedy and pride ourselves on our mixed bills (we strive for a 50-50 male-female ratio and a mix of stand-up and more alternative sets). Our resident MC is BBC Radio 4’s Viv Groskop (Saturday Live, Loose Ends): “Very funny” — Omid Djalili.
Let the Dead Parrot surprise and delight you!

Gracing our stage this Friday are the absolutely brilliant……
GUEST MC – HJALMAR TJAN – “A mystery wrapped in a cloud of what appears to be jazz, whiskey & funny.” – Sadaf Fahim.

RICHARD TODD – ‘… An inventive comic thinker, with surrealism that creates weird imagery with robust, if unlikely, internal logic. He delivers with the passion of an insane preacher, and there’s a keen off-the-wall wit throughout…’ Steve Bennet, Chortle

RICK MURTAGH – “A bearded & delightfully funny man”

JULIET MEYERS (writer for 8/10 Cats and Sarah Millican’s The Sarah Millican Television Programme ) “Had me in stitches with her witty observations and social judgements.” bbc.co.uk

CHRIS COLTRANE – “Likeably upbeat… an attractive cheekiness… By Coltrane’s account, protest is getting funnier – which can only be good news for political comedy.” – The Guardian

SY THOMAS – “Brilliantly entertaining!” – Three Weeks

& ABI ROBERTS – “Very funny, rapid-fire, infectious humour…unstoppable and triumphant… takes down target after target – Arts Editor, New Statesman.

So why don’t you come along & join us on Friday 6th May at The Anglers – a perfect start to your weekend.
