 is 2 day workshop is open to all adults – no experience required.\n\nIn 
 recent years\, interest in traditional icon painting has undergone a globa
 l revival. No longer the preserve of Orthodox monks in monasteries\, the p
 rocess of creating sacred images can now be approached as mindfulness prac
 tice\, informed by historic iconography and using ancient techniques.\n\nT
 his intensive weekend workshop will introduce you to each stage of this fa
 scinating process\, using traditional methods and materials to create your
  own version of an archetypal Byzantine or Russian icon. By the end of the
  course\, you will have a working knowledge of natural pigments\, learnt h
 ow to use imitation gold leaf\, attained foundational painting skills in e
 gg tempera and understand the art historical significance of the image. Al
