This weekend Bushy Park will be the venue for the Royal London cup clash between two of cricket’s most celebrated counties.
On Sunday 29th May at 11am Middlesex Women host Somerset Women in the leafy surroundings of Teddington Cricket Club. It’s been over 35 years since Teddington has had such a high profile game when Rachel Heyhoe-Flint brought her England team here to beat West Indies in 1979. In recent years Richmond Borough has seen a boom in girls cricket with Bushy Park Girls CC winning the county title in 2015 and last week they signed ex-player and Middlesex Coach Danni Warren to their coaching staff. Warren is excited about the visit of her old teammates, “With the rising profile of the England Women’s team and over 70 girls playing cricket for us in Bushy Park it’s the perfect opportunity to watch top class cricket on our doorstep”
The 50 over match is scheduled from 11am to 7pm with free entry and refreshments for spectators.
