SUMMARY:New Cancer Research UK Event Coming to Richmond
DESCRIPTION:Richmond will host South West London’s first ever Cancer Rese
 arch UK Relay For Life event on 15 July as the 24 hour fund raising challe
 nge premieres in our area.\n\nTaking place at Barn Elms Sports Trust in Ba
 rnes\, the first ever Relay For Life Richmond will join a global fundraisi
 ng programme that brings together communities in the fight against cancer 
 and a celebration of survival. Spearheaded by Cancer Research UK\, the eve
 nts are organised by a team of local volunteers reflecting the community s
 pirit of the Relay For Life movement.\n\nThe new Relay For Life Richmond e
 vent is now open for team registrations here or by calling 0300 123 1026. 
 Each team member is asked to raise an achievable minimum of £200 for Canc
 er Research UK.\n\nRelay For Life events are a walking challenge where tea
 ms of between eight and 15 people take it in turns to walk throughout a 24
 -hour period in recognition of the 24/7 reality that cancer is to those it
  impacts. The special event – already hugely popular throughout the USA 
 and Australia – is also a celebration of hope and survivorship.\n\nBarn 
 Elms Sport Trust\, owned by Richmond Council\, will host the 24-hour event
  on Saturday and Sunday 15-16 July 2017 where teams will walk around the a
 thletics track\, and join in celebrations and ceremonies of hope. Camping 
 facilities will also be available on site for team members to rest and rec
 over. A series of family-friendly events will take place throughout the da
 y to cheer on teams of walkers. Participants of all ages and all walking a
 bilities are welcome and entertainment\, food\, music and a host of celebr
 atory activities will also be on offer at the first ever Relay For Life Ri
 chmond event.\n\nRelay For Life Richmond volunteer event chair Maanik Chad

 eers from across the region show just how passionate the area is about imp
